Funeral is Monday for boy fatally shot at nail salon

Services for Aaron Vu will begin with visitation Sunday afternoon

MIAMI – A funeral will take place Monday for a 10-year-old boy who was shot and killed last Friday at a nail salon.

Services for Aaron Vu will begin this Sunday with visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Northwest Baptist Church on Northwest 136th Street and 9th Avenue in Miami. The public is invited to attend.

The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Mark's Catholic Church on Flamingo Road in Southwest Ranches, followed by the burial at Hollywood Memorial Gardens.

Vu's mother, Lynn Vu, returned to the scene where her son was killed, first overcome with pain and sorrow, but then overwhelmed by public love and support.

"Brought a lot of comfort and solace for her," said Vu's great aunt, Thi Pham.

Police arrested and charged one of the men, 19-year-old Anthawn Ragen, who stormed into Nail Hong-Kong, but authorities said his masked partner is still on the loose.

Family and friends lifted lights and voices Friday night, hoping to blind out the sorrow, hoping to illuminate the whereabouts of the second suspect.

"Just continue to help as much as they can," said Pham.
