Gas leak capped in Deerfield Beach

Crews called to scene Sunday night to contain hazmat situation

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A gas leak has been capped in Deerfield Beach, according to firefighters.

This all happened at the 300 block of Southeast 15th Avenue on Sunday night.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the hazmat crew was called to the scene to contain the leak. Crews even needed to use a backhoe to fix the problem.

BSO deputies said gas was leaking out of an underground tank and through the pavement.

The tank will have to be replaced.
