Ship takes travelers from PortMiami to Resorts World Bimini Bahamas

MIAMI – The Genting Group on Friday unveiled its Bimini SuperFast cruise ship, which will take travelers from PortMiami to Resorts World Bimini Bahamas in two-and-a-half hours.

"We're calling it our little red Ferrari because it moves so quickly," said Dana Leibovitz, president of Resorts World Bimini. "It's actually a game changer for the people of Bimini. We're looking to bring as many as 3,000 people a day to the island of Bimini."

The ship was previously used to ferry vehicles between Italy and Greece.

"The ship's gone through extensive renovations since we purchased it in April," said Leibovitz. "It's been a fast-track project. We're bringing it up to Resorts World standards."

The ship has a nightclub, casino, and boat owners can even bring their own vessel with them.

"And then you're able to participate in fishing and enjoying yourself in the beautiful waters of the Bahamas," said Obie Wilchcombe, the Bahamas' minister of tourism.

"I think, you know, it's going to very, very complimentary. They both -- with what we have in the experience in Asia, and then bringing it here to the Americas," said KT Lim, the chairman of Genting Group.
