Police: Girl had been beaten, forced into dumpster

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A 30-year-old man was arrested after hitting his 9-year-old niece, who was found in a dumpster in Miami Beach, police said.

The girl was found Wednesday afternoon at 645 82nd St. in Miami Beach.

Police said Jesus Crys is the girl's uncle, but she refers to him as her father and has full custody.

Crys was inside of an apartment with the girl when an argument occurred. Police said he then took her outside, where he struck her several times in the head and asked her to get in the dumpster.

The girl was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for medical treatment with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Florida Department of Children and Families has been notified and said there was another child in the home.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
