Good Samaritans save man from house fire

Man taken to hospital after early-morning fire in El Portal

EL PORTAL, Fla. – Two good Samaritans pulled a man out of a burning home in El Portal.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called to the home at 8500 Biscayne Blvd. early Friday morning.

One of the rescuers, Manuel Lacas, said he and another man heard screams for help and a man banging on a window about 3 a.m. The two tried to enter the home through the door, but ended up saving him through a window.

"He was very scared and saying, 'I'm going to die. I'm going to die,'" Lacas told Local 10 News.

The fire was extinguished, but the home was destroyed.

The man, who hasn't been identified, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. His condition isn't known.
