Local 10’s efforts to build Gratigny Plateau Park has reached another milestone.
Thanks to Go-Tilt and Cemex, all of the concrete for the walking paths has been poured. With materials and manpower included, this latest development is estimated at $40,000.
The next phase involves staking the gravel paths, grading and compacting the lime rock, followed by the installation of the gravel paths and adding the binding agent.
The park, located in northwest Miami-Dade County, is being built by businesses and individuals in south Florida who, along with Miller Construction, EDSA and the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade, joined Local 10 in its mission to turn three vacant lots into a thriving park for families.
Great progress is being made, but so much more is needed, including eight fitness stations that cost between $2,500 to $5,000 each. Fundraising for the toddler playground is also under way. That item costs nearly $17,000.
Companies that would like to sponsor the toddler playground or a fitness station can email email@example.com.
Mobile users can also choose to make a $10 contribution by simply texting "parks" to 501501. The donation will automatically be added to the donor’s phone bill and is 100 percent tax-deductible.
Every little bit helps to turn Gratigny Plateau Park into a field of dreams for children.
