MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Police Department and the FBI are investigating after a gun was found at Miami International Airport Monday afternoon.
TSA officials confirmed to Local 10 News that the gun was found in a non-secure area of the airport, and was never attempted to be brought through a TSA checkpoint.
A janitor at the airport told Local 10 News reporter Andrew Perez that he found the shotgun wrapped and placed in a trash can in a bathroom.
Police said it is unclear if the owner of the gun forgot he had it on him and left it behind since it's an older, inexpensive model.
