Hallandale Beach man charged in illegal silicone butt injections

Juan Acosta, 44, faces federal charges, accused of practicing without license

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ A Hallandale Beach man is facing federal charges after he injected silicone into the buttocks of two victims without a medical license, federal prosecutors said.

Juan Acosta, 44, was charged with two counts of receipt of interstate commerce of a misbranded device and delivery for pay with intent to defraud or mislead.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, Acosta twice administered silicone injections into the buttocks of two victims at his home in 2015.

Prosecutors said Acosta does not have a medical license and had not received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to administer the injections.

Acosta faces up to three years in prison on each count if convicted.
