Heat players clean up beach

Mario Chalmers, Jarvis Varnado clean up beach at Florida International University

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Two Miami Heat players spent their day off Monday cleaning up a beach in North Miami.

Mario Chalmers and Jarvis Varnado picked up water bottles and planted trees at Florida International University's Biscayne Bay campus.

"It's hard work out here," said Chalmers. "Something new, but you know, it's for a good cause."

"I told him he has to use more of his foot," said Varnado, "but he doesn't listen to rook. Rooks don't know better."

"I have one plant done, he's still working on his first," said Chalmers. "I think he needs to step his game up."

The event was held prior to NBA Green Week 2013, which is April 4 - 11.
