HIALEAH, Fla. – A police officer and a passenger of another car were taken to a hospital after a crash Thursday evening, Hialeah police said.
It happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of East 53rd Street and Le Jeune Road.

A Hialeah police officer was driving an unmarked silver Chevrolet Malibu south on Le Jeune Road as a red Nissan Altima with two people inside was traveling north.
Police said it appeared the Nissan made a left turn at East 53rd Street and collided with the officer's vehicle.
The officer was taken to Palmetto Hospital with a leg injury, police said.
The passenger of the Nissan was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
