Hialeah police searching for jewelry store robbers who got away in Bentley Continental coupe

Alfredo Cruz, who was shot during jewelry store robbery, is recovering

HIALEAH, Fla. - Police are hunting for three robbers who shot a clerk during a holdup at ABC Jewelers in Hialeah on Monday and then drove away in a white Bentley Continental coupe.

Alfedo Cruz, the clerk, was shot in the stomach.

Coworkers say Cruz is in stable condition, but that he suffered damage to his liver and his intestines,. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The long-time employee was inside the jewelry store when the armed men robbed the place. Cruz was the only person injured in the robbery.

The store's owners say the crooks made off with thousands of dollars in gold chains, rings and bracelets.

Hialeah police are combing through surveillance video from inside the store in hopes of generating clues.

Late Monday night, police tried to pull over the driver of a similar car when he fled.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hialeah Police Department.
