Homeless man injured in Deerfield Beach hit-and-run

BSO: Victim suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of a four-door silver or beige car that struck a homeless man in Deerfield Beach.

Fire Rescue officials discovered the victim, identified as Eldon Ray Ellis, lying in the road near Broward Health North just before dawn as they were leaving the hospital.

Deputies say Ellis was carrying several personal items on him, including a sleeping bag, which may have cushioned the impact. Deputies say his other belongings were scattered on the road.

Ellis was taken inside the hospital's emergency room, where he was treated for multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Deputies say the vehicle involved may have damage to the hood area and possibly the windshield.
