Homeless man throws brick through former Miramar home, police say

Shawn Harris, 32, claims he still lives in home, police say

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A homeless man threw a brick through a window Sunday at his former home in Miramar because he was angry that new tenants are living in the house, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, the victim's daughter told him that she saw a man throw the brick toward the house, and he said he had an idea about who did it because he has had previous encounters with the suspect, Shawn Harris, 32.

According to an arrest report, Harris had been threatening the family for months and had destroyed their mailbox in the past.

The victim told officers that he has been living in the home in the 7000 block of Southwest 27th Court for about eight months.

He told officers that Harris often hangs out in a parking lot in the 6800 block of Miramar Parkway. He said he called police later in the day when he saw Harris there.

Police said Harris told officers, "I ain't gonna lie. I threw the brick through his window today. I ain't gonna lie."

Harris claimed that he broke the window because he still lives in the house, not he victim, police said.

Harris was arrested on a charge of throwing a missile into a building.
