WEST PARK, Fla. - Some residents were evacuated from their homes Monday morning after a gas leak was reported in West Park, authorities said.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said crews responded to a ruptured gas line in the 3200 block of Southwest 40th Avenue.

Authorities said at least seven homes were evacuated as a precaution as officers blocked off the roadways so crews could work to contain the leak.

The leak was contained within an hour and everyone has since been allowed to return to their homes.
