Homestead garden grows fruits, vegetables organically

Residents, employees, volunteers work together

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – The Verde Community Farm and Market in Homestead is giving citizens that need a second chance a little room to grow.

"We have this holistic concept going on where we have over 140 housing units," said Anthea Pennant, with Carrfour Supportive Housing.

Residents, employees and volunteers work together to grow fruits and vegetables the organic way, with no herbicides or chemicals.

The farmers market is open every weekend and gives the community an opportunity to support a growing trend in towns through out the country.
