Huge bee hives removed from Fort Lauderdale home

Between 60K to 100K bees found in 2 hives

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ā€“ Willie the Bee man could barely lift the remains of two bee hives he removed from this Ft. Lauderdale home today.

He estimates the hives held anywhere between 60,000 to 100,000 bees.

Homeowner Donna Reynolds says she has been battling the bees for nearly ten years, but recently the problem got a lot worse.

"My son did try and give my dog a bath out here one day," she said. "We bathe him outside andĀ they started to attack. My son had to run then he had to run back and get the dog and unleash him and get him in the house."

Willie says the reason they kept coming back is because they never removed the hive. Only the bees were removed. If you don't get all the hive, they will continue to come back.

But Reynolds didn't seem phased by all the bees buzzing around, and would have lived in harmony with them if there weren't so many and they didn't get aggressive.

Willie says the sight and sound of bees means business couldn't be any sweeter.
