MIAMI – Search for hash tag "Erika" on social media Wednesday and there will be a stream of information on the latest storm in the Atlantic.

Local 10 News hurricane specialist Max Mayfield  and Local 10 News chief certified meteorologist Betty Davis were keeping a close watch. They were also urging South Floridians to be prepared for a hurricane Category 1, because that was within the realm of possibilities.

The hurricane survival guide suggests that electronic devices and back-up batteries be fully charged. During emergencies, call 9-1-1.
