Infant found dead in Lauderdale Lakes home

Detectives call baby's death suspicious

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. ā€“ Broward's Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an infant found in a Lauderdale Lakes home Thursday afternoon.

Deputies were called to the home at 2920 NW 44th Terrace in reference to a baby that was discovered in a bathtub.

Nickashae Beckford, 25, who lives in the home with her mother and stepfather, told detectives that she had a miscarriage a few days prior to the discovery of the infant's body.

The infant's remains were taken to the Broward County medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

BSO homicide detectives are calling the baby's death suspicious.

The owner of Teddybear Child Care Learning Center told Local 10's Christina Vazquez that Beckford worked for her for a year in 2007, and said Beckford has an associate's degree in child development.

"She loved kids," said Rosalind Ramsey. "She was very good with them."
