Injured loggerhead turtle rescued in Florida Keys

Turtle brought to hospital, condition unknown

ISLAMORADA, Fla. – An injured 125-pound loggerhead turtle needed to rescued in the Florida Keys on Tuesday.

The turtle, located in Islamorada near mile marker 86, was unable to dive under water or go sub-surface for any length of time. A concerned boater noticed the turtle and called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Officer Scott LaRosa was forced to lift the turtle to shore where it was transported to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon.

There's no word yet on the turtle's condition or how it may have been injured.
