The intersection of Commercial Boulevard and University Drive in Tamarac has been reopened after an investigation by Broward Sheriff's Office deputies into a suspicious device that was left at a McDonald's restaurant Monday night.

Darwin Mingo, 27, was arrested and will be charged with making a bomb threat and possession of a hoax device.

Deputies said Mingo walked into the McDonald's around 8:15 p.m. and told employees he had a bomb in the suitcase he was carrying.

Deputies confirmed Monday night that there was no bomb in side the suitcase. The only contents inside were clothing, cigarettes and a cellphone.

The McDonald's and a nearby Taco Bell were evacuated while the BSO Bomb Squad rendered the device safe.
