MIAMI ā Investigators are asking for the public's help for information after an incident on the Dolphin Expressway that resulted in a man shot to death, the Miami-Dade Police Department said.
Miami-Dade police said Keith Rolle, 40, was involved in a minor single-vehicle crash while traveling east on the Dolphin Expressway at NorthwestĀ 45th Avenue.
Police said Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Miami Department of Fire-Rescue personnel arrived and foundĀ Rolle unresponsive and covered in blood.
Rolle was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where police said he was later pronounced dead.
The medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy and determined that Rolle died as a result of a gunshot wound, police said. The investigation was turned over to the Miami-Dade Police Department's homicide bureau.
Police said investigators are seeking assistance from anyone who was traveling east on the Dolphin Expressway shortly after 11:30 p.m. April 7. They are urging the community to provide information regarding any suspicious behavior on the highway around the time of the incident.
"We could have people who were driving eastbound around 11:40 at night on that day, and they saw something that was out of the norm," Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said.
Authorities said it's unclear whether the shooting was an act of road rage.
Local 10 News reporter Christian De La Rosa spoke to Rolle's relatives Thursday. They said that they couldn't imagine who would want to harm Rolle.
Rolle is survived by his wife and children.
