FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Local 10 News has learned that the Broward County state attorney's office has been asked to delay the trial of a former youth minister that was scheduled to begin Monday.
The request comes from the U.S. Department of Justice, which is strongly considering bringing federal charges against Jeffrey London.

Earlier this year, a jury found London not guilty of 27 counts of lewd and lascivious conduct and sexual battery of a minor.
London, a former youth mentor at Bible Church of God in Fort Lauderdale and former dean of students at Eagle Academy in Lauderdale Lakes, still faces similar charges stemming from accusations made by three more teenagers. He remains in custody without bond at the main Broward County jail awaiting trial.
Sources told Local 10 the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida is planning on charging London under the federal statute -- charges to include solicitation of a minor for sex and transportation of a minor across state lines.
During the last trial, testimony revealed London met the neglected kids when he was a counselor at the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Lauderdale, dean of students at Eagle Academy and youth minister at the Bible Church of God.
Furthermore, several of the boys -- most, now in their 20s, accused London of sexually molesting them while they were teenagers in his care.
Text messages from his phone contained lewd propositions. In fact, his wife testified she walked in on London while he was in bed with a 16-year-old boy.
But the evidence and testimony from the five men was not enough to convince the jury. The alleged abuse took place from 2000 until 2011.
