One woman's broken wedding dreams ended up becoming a dream come true for a group of people with disabilities.

Michelle Marxen of Moorhead, Minn. says she and her fiancé had spent thousands of dollars and hours planning their Oct. 19 wedding and that everything was all set to go. But before the invitations could be sent, Marxen's would-be groom called off the wedding, reports WDAY.

With thousands of non-refundable dollars tied up in the Ramada's Crystal Ballroom in Fargo, N.D., Marxen decided to put the reception hall to good use anyway. She donated the booked time in the ballroom to Creative Care for Reaching Independence (CCRI), a non-profit that empowers those with disabilities. The organization plans to throw a Halloween party on Oct. 19 for their clients, thanks to Marxen. Jody Hudson, of CCRI, told WDAY she was speechless when she got the news about the Halloween party.

"I could not believe it. I called the next day to make sure it was for real," Hudson said.
