Jimmy Kimmel takes credit for twerking viral video

Late night host staged the hoax

LOS ANGELES - A video of a girl catching fire after an accident while twerking went viral at the end of last week; But turns out, it was all an elaborate hoax!

On Monday night's show, Jimmy Kimmel had a Skype interview with the girl who is featured in the video with nearly 10 million views. Turns out, she was actually in his studio. Kimmel revealed the he had posted the video, and waited for the world to react.

"To the conspiracy theorists on the internet who thought the video was fake, you're right, it was fake, we made it up," Kimmel said when he sat down with Daphne Avalon, the stunt-woman who stared in the video.

"We shot that video 2 months ago, and we posted it on Youtube. We didn't send it to any TV stations, we didn't tweet it. We didn't put it on any news websites, we just put it on Youtube and let the magic happen."

Kimmel also ran a compilation of media outlets who fell for his prank.
