NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital was among those arrested in a narcotics bust in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Those arrested Wednesday at the home at 130 NW 69 Street include:
Wanda Hernandez Tong, 43.
Orin Sebastian Tong, 45.
Imani Tong, 22.
Mariah Tong, 23.
Judah Hernandez, 25.
According to police, officers were conducting a narcotics investigation when they stopped Orin Tong at Northwest 47th Street and Second Avenue in Miami.
Police said two MDMA pills were found in the car, which he admitted were his. Police said Tong claimed he received the pills from his daughter.
A search warrant was then obtained for Tong's house, where detectives found more MDMA pills, cocaine, marijuana and a firearm in Tong's bedroom.
Police said another bedroom in the home was being used as marijuana grow house.
Police said Tong admitted that marijuana was being sold from his house by his children and said the cocaine and MDMA are for his personal use and part of his religion.
A representative from Jackson Memorial Hospital told Local 10 News that Wanda Hernandez-Tong has worked as a clinical staff nurse at the hospital since 2006. A statement was also released from the hospital stating, "Jackson policy states that employees have three days to notify their supervisor of an arrest. We then review the circumstances of any arrest and take appropriate action based on the level of the charges. We will suspend an employee immediately if it is a felony charge, pending the outcome of the case."
