MIAMI – A Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge ruled a Miami city commissioner can't run for a third term in November.
Former commissioner Richard Dunn sued Spence-Jones, saying her bid for reelection violated the city charter. He asked a judge to disqualify Spence-Jones.
"Having remained qualified for two consecutive full terms for the officer of city commissioner and Spence-Jones is prohibited by the City of Miami Charter from seeking a third consecutive term," wrote Judge Jorge Cueto.

Spence-Jones was suspended for 17 months soon after she was elected to her second term. The bribery charges against her were dropped and Spence-Jones returned to the commission while receiving back pay and attorney's fees from the city.
Dunn released a statement Tuesday, saying: "I am grateful that the Judge has respected the intentions of the voters of the City of Miami with respect to term limits. It is very important that we continue to be a City that respects the law. I join many who thank Michelle Spence-Jones for her service to our community and I wish her well in her future endeavors. I now turn all of my attention to my upcoming election and doing everything possible to make sure that District 5 and the entire city of Miami continue to prosper."
