Background: George Zimmerman was volunteering as a neighborhood watchman in the Sanford subdivision when the shooting occurred. He was attending Seminole State College. He is married to Shellie Zimmerman, who is charged with perjury after saying under oath Zimmerman didn't have funds to post bond.
