MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Firefighters with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue saved a kitten Monday night as they were leaving a scene at Northwest 12th Court and Northwest 79th Street.
Crews had heard the kitten crying, and followed the sound only to discover it was tied in a plastic bag, and discarded in the bushes, authorities said.

The kitten is 2 or 3 weeks weeks old, and was given the name Christine after the heroine in "Phantom of the Opera" and one of the firefighters who saved her.
Christine has been taken to the Humane Society of Broward County and will be eligible for adoption in a couple of weeks.
