A typical day for Kristi has the alarm clock going off at 3:20 a.m. and getting to work in time for the newscast that begins at 5 a.m.

By 1 p.m., it's home to her real full-time job as mom.

"I'm a helicopter mom," Kristi says. "I hover over the kids and make sure that they're on schedule."

That daily schedule can sure be a busy one, with the two children involved in soccer, football, tennis, musical theater and acting events.

Daughter Kelsie, who turned 15 in April, loves to sing and has dreams of Broadway.

Kristi remembers doing a story for Local 10 on Troy's first day of kindergarten. He's now 17 and next year he will be a senior in high school.

Kristi balances work and family with the help of her husband of 22 years, Todd, and her parents who live just a few blocks away.

"I'm just a regular mom with a great job. It would have been a lot tougher, if I didn't have my husband and parents around me," she told Viva magazine.

Kristi came to WPLG-TV in 1993.

She anchors the Local 10 morning news, weekdays from 5-7 a.m.
