Landmark Krispy Kreme back open

State inspectors reopen retail area

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The retail section of the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in North Miami Beach reopened Thursday, one day after state health inspectors shut it down because of a roach infestation in that part of the facility.

The discovery was made during a routine, unannounced inspection at 590 NE 167th Street Wednesday afternoon, said Dr. John Fruin, the head of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Fruin said no evidence of roaches was found in the production area of the facility. It was allowed to remain open Wednesday.
