Fire-Rescue officials said two cats were found inside of the building and were treated, but one was later pronounced dead.

The cat that did survive was taken to a veterinarian for treatment after rescue crews used a resuscitation mask on the animal. Officials said the department has had a 75 percent success rate in the five years they've been using the animal resuscitation masks.

A resident of the apartment building was being treated for smoke inhalation, officials said.

Crews were able to put out the fire. About four or five units suffered some sort of damage.
