Lauderhill man injured when car crashes into home

Driver says purse stolen, cards used shortly after crash

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A Lauderhill man was injured Tuesday morning when a driver crashed his car through a house and into the room where the man was sleeping.

A representative for the Lauderhill Fire-Rescue Department told Local 10 News the victim was taken to Florida Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver was not hurt.

The view from Sky 10 showed the front of the car jutting out of the home in the 4900 block of NW 16th Court.

"I just moved in," Noel Evans said. "Now I got to find somewhere else to go."

Tamara Pierre said she accidentally put the car into reverse.

Local 10 News reporter Eric Yutzy said Pierre was a victim of fraud shortly after the wreck. At some point in the morning, her purse was stolen from the front seat, and her debit cards were used.

She said $200 in cash was also inside of her purse.
