On Feb. 25, Lavall Hall's family interrupted a commission meeting, calling on the police department to release video from last month's shooting.
Mayor Oliver Gilbert agreed that the video should be made public, but cautioned that it was up to the state attorney's office to decide.
Police said Hall hit one of their officers with a broomstick after his mother called 911 asking for help.
The family wanted to have him hospitalized under the Baker Act.
The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Eddo Trimino, 33, and Peter Erhlich, 66. They have both been placed on administrative injury leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
