Lightning storm sparks 3 brush fires in western Broward County

Firefighters called in on day off to battle fires

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Firefighters were called into work on their day off to battle three brushes in western Broward County, Florida Division of Forestry officials said.

Authorities said a lightning storm sparked the fires Friday.

One fire was reported just east of U.S. 27 at Stirling Road. Another was located northwest of that near Everglades Holiday Park.

A third fire was reported near Krome Avenue by Mack's Fish Camp.

Sky 10 was over the first blaze about 5 p.m. as heavy smoke filled the air.

It's unclear how many acres burned.
