2 people killed in fiery Coconut Creek crash

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Authorities in Broward County are investigating a fatal car crash in which the vehicle caught fire.

It happened just after 5 a.m. Sunday in the 7300 block of Lyons Road in Coconut Creek.

According to police, the crash involved just the one vehicle.

Local 10 News’ cameras observed an SUV that appeared to have struck a tree prior to the fire igniting.

Two people who were inside the SUV were killed, authorities said.

Traffic homicide investigators will now use high-end technology to re-create the impact and figure out what went wrong.

Those detectives will also retrace the steps of the driver to see if any other factors may have been at play.

Lyons Road between the 7300 block and Hillsboro Boulevard was closed for several hours following the crash.
