BSO: Man drowns after falling in Weston canal

WESTON, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after a man drowned in a Weston canal Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said someone called 911 around 1:15 p.m. to report an apparent drowning near the 500 block of Racquet Club Road.

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, BSO deputies, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and BSO’s Dive Team responded to the scene and immediately began lifesaving measures on a man who had fallen into the canal.

Deputies said paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene where a pair of construction boots were found near the canal.

BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities have not released information about the victim’s age or identity.
