3 airlifted to hospital following head-on collision in Florida Keys, authorities say

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A head-on collision in the Florida Keys Saturday has left three people hospitalized, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the crash occurred sometime Saturday at Mile Marker 13.

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay told Local 10 News that multiple people were injured in the crash and three of those involved were airlifted by Trauma Star to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Local 10 News obtained a photo of the crash scene that showed both a dark-colored SUV and another car mangled from the apparent crash as fire rescue personnel continued to assess the damage.

MCSO deputies continued to investigate the scene and the cause of the crash has been undetermined at this time.

Authorities have not released any information on the identity or condition of the victims involved in the crash.
