Bicyclist in critical condition after Pembroke Pines hit-and-run crash

Mohamed Anwer struck from behind while riding bicycle early Monday morning

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A 22-year-old man was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Pembroke Pines early Monday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. in the 6300 block of Pines Boulevard.

Pembroke Pines police Sgt. Christopher Sengelmann said Mohamed Anwer was riding his bicycle in the westbound bike lane of Pines Boulevard when he was struck from behind.

Anwer was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police are looking for a Land Rover sport utility vehicle with front-end damage, possibly on the passenger side.
