HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The Sun-Sentinel reports that a Hollywood residential complex is using DNA testing to track down and fine owners who don't pick up after their dogs.

The article states that dogs living at the Hollywood Station apartment complex have had their DNA tested and extracted. Any droppings left behind on the property are then tested against the database. The owners are then fined for not picking up after their dogs.

Fines are as high as $150.

The report goes on to clarify that owners do not have to pay to register their dog's DNA. The charge is part of a pet deposit.
