Fort Lauderdale parking lot flooded after crash

All lanes of Commercial Boulevard open despite flooding

Sky 10 was above the scene of a broken fire hydrant Tuesday morning.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale parking lot flooded Tuesday morning after a fire hydrant was hit as the result of a crash in the westbound lanes of Commercial Boulevard. 

Two cars were involved in the crash near the Burger King at the intersection of Commercial Boulevard and 31st Avenue. According to authorities, the hydrant was sheared off of its post.

One person was transported to a nearby hospital, but information about his or her condition has not been released. 

The fire hydrant was still overflowing with water when Sky 10 flew over the scene before 7:30 a.m. It appears several inches of water are filling the parking lot of the fast-food restaurant. A utility crew is being called to out to work on the hydrant. 

All lanes of Commercial Boulevard are open as crews investigate the crash and try to shut off the water.
