Broken gas line shuts down Belmar Street at Breakers Avenue in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A broken gas line was reported Monday morning at Belmar Street and Breakers Avenue, authorities said.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials asked the public to avoid the area while crews work to fix the gas line.

The Fire Department's hazmat team is also at the scene.

Authorities said construction crews working in the area accidentally cut the gas line.

It's unclear when the gas line will be repaired.
