Fort Lauderdale issues boiling water notice to dozens of households

Notice applies to 20th Ave. from Las Olas Boulevard to Rio Barcelona Canal

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Authorities were asking Fort Lauderdale residents, who live along a section of Fiesta Way, to boil water Wednesday until further notice.

After private contractors broke a water line Wednesday, the warning applied to about 108 households, Fort Lauderdale spokesman Matt Little said.

"Crews are on the scene to restore the service" Little said about 12:35 p.m.

The 12:30 p.m. notice applies to the area of Northeast 20th Avenue from Las Olas Boulevard to the Rio Barcelona Canal. Water for drinking, tooth brushing or cooking should be boiled for at least one minute, Little said.

"Water used directly from the tap is suitable as is for washing, bathing and irrigation," Little said.
