MIAMI – Florida Gov. Rick Scott visited an activities center in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood in full campaign mode Wednesday despite the election being two years away.
Scott planted kisses on the women arriving at the center and greeted men playing dominoes.
The center provides several services for seniors but has struggled financially. The City of Miami made up the difference when state funding was cut.
"He needs to help us in the only way he can -- in the budget," said Alisa Maria Juara with the Little Havana Activities Center.
"I think he has learned. I think that the new, real Governor Scott understands that this is about quality of life, that this is not about politics or getting votes," said City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado.
Regalado also translated for Scott, who tried speaking Spanish.
"We have to take care of all our seniors," said Scott. "I mean, think about what they did to build our country and clearly build our state, so it's very important to me that we do that."
