MIAMI - Downtown Miami's version of Grand Central Park is set to open to the public Friday evening.
The five acres of rubble and debris where the old Miami Arena once stood was transformed thanks to the spearheading of local activist, Brad Knoefler.
Lush greenery, a range of 250 trees, and even a plaza where a number of concerts and festivals are expected to take place, is now a welcome site and possibly, a bit of inspiration for downtown development.
Grand Central Park, located at 700 N. Miami Ave., will have its official grand opening at 5 p.m.
