Hundreds bundle up, brave cold for A1A marathon

Runners turn out for Fort Lauderdale A1A marathon

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Hundreds of runners took part in the 8th annual Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half Marathon Sunday morning.

Last year's event featured over 4,000 runners and walkers.  Early registration for this year's event was on pace to beat that rate.

Runners flock to Fort Lauderdale to take part in the race. The course passes down one of the most famous roads in America, A1A. The full, 26.2-mile course is known as one of the fastest and most scenic in the state.

A 5K run/walk is held each year after the full marathon and half-marathon runners start their races at 6 a.m.
