Man guilty of killing man, set woman on fire to be executed March 20

Gov. Rick Scott has set the date of another execution in Florida.

After 36 years behind bars, Robert Henry is set to be executed at 6 p.m. on March 20.  Henry was found guilty of beating and setting two people on fire, as he robbed the fabric store where he worked at.

When police and firefighters arrived to the store the night of Nov. 1, 1987, they found Phyllis Harris dead. Henry tied him up in the men's restroom.  They also found Janet Thermidor on the floor in the women's restroom.  

Thermidor lived to tell police what happened. She said Henry entered the office and used a hammer to hit her on the head and then set her on fire. She ran to the restroom to try to extinguish the flames, but couldn't.

Thermidor died of severe burns a day later. Police arrested Henry two days later. he was charged with two counts of first degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, and arson with a deadly weapon. After a trail of appeals, the Florida Supreme Court affirmed the 1998 conviction in 1991.
