Carnival Sensation intercepts 19 migrants at sea

Cruise ship enroute to Miami finds migrants' vessel

MIAMI – The Carnival Sensation intercepted a small makeshift boat with 19 migrants in the Florida Straits on Friday. 

The migrants were about 59 miles southwest of Key West, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. 

The cruise ship's captain reported them to the U.S. Coast Guard, who asked that they not allow the migrants on board and wait for their arrival.

The U.S. Coast Guard allowed the cruise ship to continue to Miami about 11:45 p.m.

The migrants were not injured, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
