MIAMI - The funeral for a Florida Highway Patrol trooper murdered in Haiti was held Saturday.
Services began at 9 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 2330 Northwest 93rd Street in Miami.
Trooper Jean Barthelus was shot and killed June 8 in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, where he was visiting his ailing wife. Investigators report that two men who flagged down Barthelus on the road opened fire on his vehicle.
Barthelus, 47, was an eight-year veteran of the highway patrol.
The FHP reports that a visitation for Barthelus was held Friday evening at Memorial Plan San Jose Funeral Home in Hialeah.
