Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief is retiring

DORAL, Fla. – The chief of Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue is retiring.

William "Shorty" Bryson announced on Thursday that his last day will be on February 1.

The department wished Bryson well on his upcoming retirement.

According to the county, Chief Bryson began his career as a firefighter in 1975.

He was fire chief for the City of Miami for 9 years.

Bryson has been Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Chief since Aug. 2011.
