Miami Marlins raise money for BSO deputy's diabetic son

Cost of service dog needed: $20,000

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins will present a check from the Marlins Foundation to the son of Broward Sheriff's Office Deputy Chad Amara on Saturday at Marlins Park.

Ethan Amara suffers from a dangerous form of juvenile diabetes, and is in need of a diabetic alert service dog to monitor his condition 24 hours a day. The cost of the dog is $20,000.

Ethan will start off the game against the Oakland A's with the traditional "Play Ball!" announcement.
